What is Maker’s Haven?

Within the Haven Home ClimateCare showroom is a hidden gem called Maker’s Haven that features the beautiful handmade creations of Kingston’s local artisans.

Though we’ve displayed box store products in our showroom before, we’ve always had an eye for local handmade creations. Over the years we got involved with many charity fundraisers for maker’s shows and established a good relationship with local artisans.

The idea behind Maker’s Haven came about when we started buying handmade bracelets from one of our lead installer Matt’s daughter Jorja, who makes accessories and has her own Facebook page called Saucy Girl Accessories.

Matt would bring in more bracelets for people to pick up from the store and we thought of supporting Jorja by displaying her accessories at the showroom. Matt, who also runs a hobby business called Pipes & Plants, made us two products displays out of reclaimed wood and gas piping, and soon our showroom became the focal point of local artisans in the form of Maker’s Haven.

At Maker’s Haven, we don’t charge artisans for displaying their products at the showroom, nor take any commissions for any of their sales. We love to support local artists and this is our way of doing just that.

In addition to this, each year Maker’s Haven hosts at least one to two events and invites the public to visit the showroom to see the creations of these featured local artisans. Everyone gets to enjoy free delectable snacks while shopping for handmade products and meeting the artisans themselves.

HAVEN HOME CLIMATECARE’S COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT PROJECTS
Haven Home ClimateCare is part of many fund-raising projects, however, on an ongoing basis we are actively involved with:

The Kingston Humane Society

It brings us immense joy to sponsor the Big Paws event every year.

YGK Team Charity

This charity is the closest to our heart as it was set-up and run by us.

As part of YGK Team Charity’s most recent event, contributors were given the option to vote for the cause that they wanted to support and were able to put their choice in ballots. The YGK Team Charity raised $9500 and it went to Almost Home and $1000 went to The Kingston Humane Society.
